How to we determine what is the right gear?  Research and trial and error.  We constantly looking at new inventions.  Technology changes rabidly.  Before leaving on a long trip we test the gear first at home.  The gear changes with almost every trip as can be seen from our packing list below.  Some of the factors that we have to take into consideration for a trip are:

• Climate of a country - Hot or cold. Dry or wet.
• Economics of a country - Developed or not developed countries.
• Durability & reliability of equipment and gear.
• Weight and size of equipment and gear.
• Cost (Bang for your buck).
